Donor Advised Funds

Donor Advised Funds (DAF) are for individuals at every stage of their charitable giving journey—whether you’re just getting started in philanthropy, looking to expand your giving, or creating a legacy gift. Through a donor advised fund you can make a charitable contribution today, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants from a fund over time.

What’s the advantage of donating through a donor advised fund?
  • A DAF allows you to direct your donations to charities like Cystic Fibrosis Canada, now and in the future.
  • DAFs are flexible, cost-effective, and hands-on.
  • Enjoy immediate tax benefits while deciding later where to distribute your funds.
  • Simplify your giving by consolidating your charitable gifts, including large non-cash assets.
  • Include your family in charitable decision making.
  • Leave a legacy by include your DAF in your estate planning.
How do I set up a donor-advised fund?

In Canada, DAFs are held by public foundations, which are registered charities. Each foundation has a different mission, policies and expertise. We recommend speaking to your financial advisor about which donor-advised fund might be right for you. Once you have set up your DAF, let us know so we can thank you for your generosity.

Leaving a Legacy through your DAF

The final distribution of contributions remaining in your DAF after your lifetime can be designated when you create or update your fund. We would like to recognize you for your generosity and ensure that your gift is used as you intend, so please inform us should you update or change your end-of-life gift to include CF Canada.

We’d love to hear from you. Please connect with us at legacygiving@cysticfibrosis.ca to discuss how we can help you fulfill your legacy.

We are grateful and privileged to be working with a community of philanthropic donors.
